When was Botswana Open University established? It was established on 20th July 2017. The accrediting body verifies BOU programs in the country. They include:

How do I apply to Botswana Open University?

Applications to BOU are entirely made online. You will not need to interact with anyone or manually take your forms to the university. So, how do I register online with Botswana Open University?

Use the steps below:

  1. Connect to the internet: Go to your network settings and enable access to the internet via your tablet data, hotspot, LAN connection, or Bluetooth tethering. The connection must be stable to upload soft copies to Botswana Open University Portal.
  2. Open your browser: Go to your gadget’s start menu, scroll or search for your favourite browser. Double-click on its icon to launch it.
  3. Go to myOnline Services portal: Use the official address to access the Botswana Open University online registration portal.
  4. Click on “New Application”: If this is your first time accessing the portal, click the button shown below. If you have ever accessed the portal, you need to log in using your previously created credentials.
  5. Submit your biographical information: You will be asked for details such as names, gender, marital status, and date of birth.
  6. Click on the “Save” button: Verify the accuracy of the information provided before doing so. Once you have saved your information, you will be issued a reference number.
  7. Create a PIN: Click on the “Create Pin” button and enter your preferred 5-digit PIN. Do not start with a zero.
  8. Make payment: Under the main menu, click on “E-Payments”, tap on “Submit Payment” and enter your card information. Confirm if your account has the payable amount.
  9. Read and accept application rules: Click on “Academic Applications”, read and accept the rules and regulations. Click on the "Next Step" button to continue.
  10. Provide your academic records: Enter all the schools you have ever attended and their respective years. Save the information.
  11. Specify your school leaving subjects and grades: You need a minimum of 6 subjects. List them as they appear in your school leaving certificate. Save each entry.
  12. Upload academic documents: Once done with filling the subjects, tap “Load/view documents to upload” and upload your educational records in PDF format here.
  13. Provide any previous qualifications you have: Ensure a PDF upload backs up any information entered here.
  14. List any disabilities you have: Enter your disabilities in this field and save them.
  15. Choose your preferred programme: Tap “Choice of Programme/Qualification” and search for the course you want to take at BOU.
  16. View your completed application: See the programme you have applied to and check whether you have skipped any step or entered the wrong information.

Botswana Open University 2021 Intake deadlines

Make sure you submit your applications for tertiary programmes before 21st May 2021.

Short courses and other non-tertiary courses do not have an application deadline.

Once you have submitted your application, wait for about ten weeks, then come back to the application website to check your admission status. To do so:

  • Click on “Student Inquiry” from the main menu.
  • Tap “Academic Admission Status” to view whether you have been accepted to fill any Botswana Open University vacancies.

If you have been admitted to the university, you will pay the following amounts for the listed courses as fees:
