Chi Mhende biography
She was born and raised in Zimbabwe and moved to Cape Town, South Africa, in 2006 to study at AFDA, where she graduated with a BA in Live Performance. She celebrates her birthday every October 19th, and this year she will be turning 29. She has shared an adorable baby photo of herself for Throwback Thursday on her Instagram page. She attended an all-girls Catholic school and was part of the school's drama club at the age of seven. Initially, the Generations star wanted to be a doctor but had a change of heart after she discovered her talent in the theatre.

Her childhood was, however, difficult, since she shared that she was raped as a child. Speaking to the SABC 3's Afternoon Express, she revealed that she had decided to speak out so that her family and the one who preyed on her would get the message.

Not much about her family is known. She however recently shared the sad news of the passing of her grandmother, Gogo Mhende, on her Instagram page.

The Generations actress is strict about keeping her personal life from the public eye. In an interview with Zaziwa, she said;
"I feel that you know, I am the one who decided to come into this career-not my parents, not siblings and not whatever partner am with. And, also I think I find sometimes for women, it's difficult to take them seriously unless you understand who they are partnered with"
She is however not married and is said to be dating the fellow actor Andile Nebulale.
Career
She got into the Cape Town theatre, and in 2010, she made her debut, taking the role of Lady Capulet in the classic play Romeo and Juliet produced by Artscape. She then started doing Drama Therapy and has partnered with several institutions, including Bonfire Improve Theatre Company and the Zakheni therapy Arts Foundation.

She also starred in theatre productions, including The Quiet Violence of Dreams created by Sello Dukier as Mmabatho, Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coteez as Zoe, and in Slowly by Howard Baker, she took the role of Calf.

She also starred in the 2014 comedy-drama film Love the One You love by Jenna Cato Bass.

Chi Mhende Generations
She was also part of the cast of Generations: The Legacy, a South African soap opera created and produced by Mfundi Vudla. In the TV show, she played as Zola's son, Wandile Radebe. Her character in the series broke controversy after Mzansi discovered that the Generations Hunk was a lady in real life. Many were impressed since she was able to pull out a male voice very well. In November 2016, it was revealed that the character was transgender, meaning that Wandile was born a female.
Chi Mhende Queen Sono
She also played the character Miri Dube in the Netflix crime drama series Queen Sono. The TV show is mainly focused on an orphan Queen Sono, played by Pearl Thusi, who becomes a spy and fights crime and at the same time has to deal with her issues.
Chi Mhende has proved her artistry throughout her career and especially since she was able to pull off a male character so well. She is a dime to the film industry in Africa, and we all would like to see more of her on our Televisions.
