Controversial podcast host Nota Baloyi is trending for the wrong reasons again. Nota, born Nhlamulo Baloyi, has sparked outrage after weighing in on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s marriage and insulting his wife, Dr Tshepo Motsepe.

The former music executive has a reputation for using his platforms to air his views, which often land him in legal trouble. One would believe Nota Baloyi would learn from his humbling experience with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), however, his comments on President Ramaphosa’s marriage and his wife prove otherwise.

He insulted Dr Tshepo Motsepe’s appearance and implied that President Ramaphosa was getting affection elsewhere. Baloyi further criticised Dr Tshepo Motsepe’s mental state. The post read:

“Ya’ll really believe Cupcake is sharing a bed with a magogo who is 10 years older than he is? She looks 90 or somewhere there. As long as that DJ’s girlfriend of 12 years is keeping him fresh, I guess he can forgive magriza for not remembering where he keeps his ties & cufflinks! 😅”

Nota Baloyi was reacting to a post from the official X page of The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa. The page shared pictures of Dr Tshepo Motsepe participating in the ‘Living Legends’ event hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine under the theme 'Inspiring Greatness'.

In the comments section under Baloyi’s post, netizens urged President Ramaphosa to sue Nota. Others slammed Nota Baloyi for abusing his freedom of speech.

Here are some of the comments:

@Cathy_SM1 suggested:

“@AthiGeleba @CyrilRamaphosa @vincentmagwenya make an example with this guy. This is not freedom of speech but disrespect at its highest form. Teach him a lesson and sue him to his last cent. You're so disrespectful.”

@BeeforBeautiful argued:

“Surely you lack something, and you are trying to compensate for that by being nasty and disrespectful to other people.”

@Nala_Denga said:

“Reducing the First Lady to her appearance is deeply disrespectful, not just to her, but to all women. Your tweet says far more about your lack of decency than it does about her. Don't say stuff about a woman that you would not want anyone to say about your mother.”

@born_toRain suggested:

“What a distasteful comment. Says a lot about your upbringing.”

Nota Baloyi calls out DJ Sumbody's famous friends

Nota Baloyi doesn't always use his X account to stir controversy. The outspoken podcast host uses his account to air his views on topics of national significance.

Briefly News reported that Nota Baloyi called out DJ Sumbody's famous friends for being silent after his alleged killers were arrested on Monday, 21 July 2025.

Baloyi questioned why the late producer's friends were not vocal about the breakthrough.

DJ Sumbody was gunned down in Woodmead, Johannesburg, on 20 November 2022, in what seemed to be a hit. His bodyguard also died in the incident.
