Lasizwe Dambuza and former Big Brother Mzansi star Ashley Ogle are leading the pack with the most nominations at the 2025 South African Social Media Awards (SASMAs).

The media personalities, famous for their online content creation and legion of fans, are tied with three nominations in their respective categories.

Lasizwe is going head-to-head with international stars in the African Social Media Star of the Year category, and is also competing in the Most Popular Content Across Platforms and Social Media Personality of the Year categories.

Meanwhile, Ogle is contesting against fellow BBMzansi stars Yolanda and her former nemesis Mshini Lekwadu in the Emerging Social Media Personality of the Year and Most Popular Hashtag categories, respectively.

The famous influencer is also battling it out with her on-screen bae, Sweet Guluva, in the Social Media Newcomer.

Lasizwe has steadily grown a massive following over the years with his hilarious videos that have sustained his career and attracted brands. Meanwhile, Ashley is a newcomer but has already become a brand magnet and one of the most-loved personalities on social media.

She recently landed an endorsement with a renowned car dealership and even became an ambassador for DJ Zinhle's Era, and with the support of her fans, Ashley’s star continues to rise.

The awards officially take place on 22 November 2025, and voting lines are open for six weeks, from 16 August to 08 November. Read the full list of nominees.
