South African cultural activist Ngizwe Mchunu has shown his support for King Misuzulu, likening him to a divine being.
The former Ukhozi FM radio presenter Ngizwe Mchunu revealed that King Misuzulu is God, warning people against challenging him. He made his sentiments known as he weighed in on the Zulu King's public spat with Professor Musa Xulu.
What did King Misuzulu say about Professor Xulu?
The King delivered a speech during the Umkhosi Womhlanga (also known as the Reed Dance Festival) on Saturday, 13 September 2025. According to the news publication, Ngizwe Mchunu stated that King Misuzulu is God, and he should be treated like one. The controversial figure stated that it does not matter whether Xulu is right or wrong; he should never go against the King.
"In the Zulu nation, the king is God. No one should stand against God. In Zulu culture, if the king is not happy with you, even if you are right, you apologise by bringing the cow to the king and say you didn't mean to hurt, but you were just expressing your opinion like others," he said.
Xulu is allegedly not moved by the hate he is getting for criticising King Misuzulu. It was also revealed that the King reportedly challenged the professor to a stick fight called Umgangela, to sort out their differing views.
It is not known why the two men are at loggerheads, but Xulu also alleged that he has received numerous threats to his life from outside people.
