Abongwe Mseleku honours MaCele after graduating
Taking to her official Facebook account on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, Abongwe Mseleku shared photos from her graduation, which featured her mom, MaCele and dad, Musa Mseleku. She penned a lengthy message dedicating her degree to her mother and revealed that her academic journey was not easy.
“Welcome to graduation, Ma❤️ Mthombeni, the Lord has been good to us more than anything. 2 years ago, I cried terribly ‘cause I almost lost a huge part of me, I went back to school and had to act like nothing was wrong cause unfortunately life had to go on. I texted you almost every day just to make sure I was still safe, and you were still kicking,” part of the caption read.
Abongwe Mseleku also threw subtle shade at her father and referred to her mother as a present father. Part of the caption read:
“Thank you for believing in me at all times, for making sure I go to school, for crying the whole month too🤣, for being a present father and most importantly, thank you for loving me❤️ (I can’t wait to see the funny caption you write when you post🤣)”

How to build a relationship with an absent parent
Paula Quinsee told Briefly News that when trying to rebuild a relationship with an absent parent, it can help to be open to hearing their perspective.
She explained that the parent may have made decisions they believed were right or protective at the time, even if they caused harm. Quinsee highlighted that some things might have never been fully explained or communicated before. She, however, emphasised that understanding their side doesn’t mean excusing their absence or the pain they caused.
