Nota is in hot water again after making cold-blooded remarks about kwaito legend L'vovo Derrango's stroke on the South African podcast Music Pulse, which premiered on 4 August. While the rest of the country was busy rallying behind the singer with donations, Nota had a very different take.
The Durban musician suffered a stroke in 2022, and it nearly claimed his life and derailed his career. His emotional appearance on Gagasi FM's Sunday Devotion with Linda Sibiya, where he broke down in tears speaking about his recovery, reignited public concern and triggered a wave of generosity. By the time Nota made his comments, donations in support of L'vovo's recovery had already surpassed R226,000.
What Nota said about L'vovo
In the latest episode of the PNC channel, Nota was blunt and unapologetic. "He needed to have eaten right. That's why I always say, you've been eating McDonald's the whole time. You are at the Old Fort Road drive-thru at McDonald's, driving up and down, eating all the nonsense that you like. That's why you get high blood pressure," he said.

He then went on to connect L'vovo's health to his personal life, specifically his marital status.
"L'vovo doesn't have that. He didn't want to be controlled. He wants to have freedom. He had all the freedom. The freedom that you're talking about right now is the freedom that you are asking for right now. And that's where it ends up. Do you see that now? That's where it ends up. So he's paying the price for not having a wife. That's going to make sure that he stays right and on track," Nota said.
He wrapped up his monologue with a pointed piece of advice directed at the audience: "Find a wife. Find a wife."

@AubreyKhumalo2 pushed back: "Nota doesn't know what he's talking about. You can eat whatever and live longer than the healthiest person on earth. You don't die or get sick from what you eat. It's more than that"
@Just_Lebo_Then offered a surprisingly sympathetic read: "Sharks 🦈 he is actually right my lady always wants me to eat greens when we met, I was a takeaway guy. She always comes to my place to cook for me 😭😭😭 now I see she wants me to live long 😜"
