Actress and entrepreneur Amanda du-Pont found herself in hot water on social media after users questioned whether her advocacy against gender-based violence was credible, given the company she allegedly keeps.

The actress has been one of the more prominent voices speaking out about femicide in South Africa, particularly following the murder of runner Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo and the discovery of multiple women's bodies in the Ekurhuleni area.

She has also previously addressed abusive behaviour through her alleged experiences with ex-boyfriend Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye and by publicly supporting other survivors of abuse.

Amanda du-Pont's advocacy under fire

The backlash was triggered by a post from X user Vhoyde on 28 September 2026, who argued that du-Pont had no standing to lecture the public on the dangers facing South African women.

"Amanda Du Pont was able to come on here and harangue us about the plight of South African women and the dangers of South African men while associating with actual monsters. Don't ever let these people moralise to you."

User kwets11 added fuel to the fire by sharing a screenshot of an exchange between du-Pont and a follower, who pointed to the former Skeem Saam star's use of armed security as evidence that the state was failing women. Her reply was direct.

"This is the exact message I'm deliberately trying to get across. We need change!"

Oupa Sindane allegations resurface

At the heart of the criticism was du-Pont's alleged romantic link to Oupa "Bafana" Sindane, an Mpumalanga multimillionaire and taxi boss who featured as one of the co-accused in a high-profile R2.2 million extortion and money-laundering case alongside prominent taxi figure Joe "Ferrari" Sibanyoni. Neither du-Pont nor Sindane has officially addressed the rumoured relationship, and the reports remain unverified.

In 2024, du-Pont had gone viral after being photographed attending a funeral with heavily armed bodyguards, an image that sparked widespread speculation at the time. That moment was now being revisited alongside the fresh allegations.
