Emtee has opened up about the possibility of filling up the FNB Stadium, telling fans during a live stream that even a partial crowd at the iconic venue would mean the world to him.
The Roll Up rapper addressed the growing online campaign for him to headline the Johannesburg stadium in 2027, saying the goal is deeply personal.
"Even if I were to fill up the soccer pitch there at FNB, I would be fulfilled," he said, making clear that his ambitions are not driven by rivalry. He was quick to distance himself from comparisons to Chris Brown, who drew over 90,000 fans to the same stadium in December 2024.
Emtee's supporters launched a petition calling for the 2027 stadium concert, and mining magnate Solomon Soka Madibela, widely known as MySol, publicly pledged his backing for the event. Fellow artists including L-Tido, Da LES and DJ Sbu also rallied behind the rapper in an earlier post, adding celebrity weight to the momentum.

However, enthusiasm online has not been unanimous. While many fans are firmly in Emtee's corner, critics have questioned the concert's viability, and the petition itself has drawn scrutiny, having gathered only around 12,000 signatures so far against a target of over 94,000 seats at the venue.

Legal troubles cloud the moment
The anticipation around the FNB Stadium push arrives against a difficult personal backdrop. Emtee was recently released from prison following his arrest for allegedly breaching a protection order taken out by his ex-wife Nicole Chinsamy.
His release came after Chinsamy, with whom he shares three children, submitted a formal withdrawal statement to the court, stating that she would "like to close this chapter and move on with my life." The case has since been postponed to 2 October.
As supporters wait for official confirmation of any concert plans, questions remain about whether his legal and personal challenges could affect the momentum building around what would be one of South African hip hop's most ambitious shows.
