Fan-favourite actress Nelisa Mchunu returns as Fikile on SABC1's popular soapie Uzalo, reprising her famous character after her 2021 departure.

The beloved actress and content creator left the TV show in 2021 when her character was written out, but has now made a comeback.

Viewers of the award-winning soapie welcomed her back on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, after she reportedly begged the show to keep her in 2021.

The SABC1 soapie announced on its Instagram account on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, that the actress has reprised her popular role.

The post read: "Uzalo will always be my first home. What to expect from my character’s return is the same ‘Beyoncé’ energy and a wild ride between the old Fikile and the new Sbu,” commented @neliisah.
The queen is back! 👑Expect the drama, the energy, and all the unforgettable moments only Fikile can bring."

The SABC1 soapie also confirms that Mchunu will begin to make her first appearance on the show starting Wednesday, 24 September 2025 at 20:30 on SABC 1. 📺

Entertainment commentator Mlu also announced on his X account on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, that Stained Glass TV has confirmed that actors Mondli Nkomo and Jamy Lee Simons have also joined the SABC1 soapie Uzalo.

Legendary actor Mondli Nkomo will play the character of Mr Dongwe, while Jamy Lee Simons will portray the character of Joanne on the top-rated TV show.

Uzalo's Simphiwe Majozi balances his career and business

In more entertainment news, Briefly News previously reported that Simphiwe Majozi, who is known for his role as Sbu Makhathini on Uzalo, opened a new restaurant called Sbu&Ration’s Eatery in Newlands East in Durban.
