- Victor has depended on a wheelchair for a large part of his life after losing mobility
- Well-wishers were moved by his story and took him to the hospital, where he underwent therapy
- Victor was emotional when he recently regained his ability to walk
Victor, an orphan from Mabwaita village in Kapkatet Ward, Kericho County, has regained his mobility after being bedridden for months.
Philanthropist Jonathan Metet said Victor relied on a wheelchair because he couldn't walk.
In a heartwarming turn of events, the youngster made a remarkable recovery that left his family emotional.
Victor's guardian angels
Victor's plight was brought to light by Disability Rights Advocates Hazel Chebet and Carol Yegon.
They raised the issue with Dr. Japheth Cheruiyot and Sosit Professionals, which led to a series of medical interventions and support from the local community.
Dr Cheruiyot advised that Victor be taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital for medical examination, during which a series of therapy sessions were recommended.
Recognizing the urgency of the condition, Janet, a therapist at Kaplong Mission Hospital, offered the therapy sessions and supplements at her own expense.
Journey of recovery
Thanks to these collective community efforts, Victor has made a remarkable recovery.
This was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Dr. Japheth Cheruiyot, the hospital's medical superintendent.
"He no longer requires a wheelchair and can now stand and walk independently," Metet added.
His progress will be reviewed again in a few days.
