Mamelodi pupils became viral sensations because of a video of them going wild. The school kids earned serious side eye from South Africa after they got out of hand because of a truck that was in an accident.

The video of the students doing the most for food that may have been intended for them anyway went viral. Many online users were disturbed by the behaviour of the school children in the viral video.

In a TikTok video shared by @newsnexussa, a crowd of school children rushing toward a truck full of food caused a buzz on social media. The pupils were allegedly looting a feeding scheme truck on 5 September 2025. Various children wearing their school uniforms and were picking up food items, while some got inside the truck and started throwing food to students who were outside.

South Africa enraged over school kids looting

Many people were convinced that the children were recreating what they had seen adults do. Online users made reference to the common looting that happens when delivery vehicles get involved in accidents. Netizens also felt that the kids were looting due to poverty.
