"Beautiful Soul": Victoria West Teen Lee Jandra Sabbat Dies After Car Crash, SA Moved

A 16-year-old girl from Victoria West in the Northern Cape lost her life on 12 September 2026. Lee Jandra Sabbat, affectionately known as "Meitjie," was a Grade 10 learner who had been sent by her grandmother to a nearby shop shortly before the crash.

When the grandmother heard a loud bang, she ran outside and found Lee Jandra badly injured. A Toyota Yaris slammed into a wall, trapping her between the vehicle and the structure. The teenager was still alive at that point, but was later declared dead at the scene.

The 22-year-old driver and four other passengers in the vehicle were transported to hospital for treatment. One of those passengers, a 39-year-old man, later succumbed to his injuries. According to Die Son, police have opened a case of culpable homicide and are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
