A bizarre yet humorous video has gone viral in South Africa, showing a woman standing defiantly in front of a moving taxi, sparking widespread jokes about relationships, popularly known as "umjolo."

In the clip, the lady can be seen refusing to move from the road as the taxi approaches. Despite the potential danger, she stood her ground, arms at her side, as the confused driver attempted to navigate the situation. Onlookers were shocked as they stared at the unusual scene.

Eventually, another person intervened, walking up to the woman and pulling her away from the vehicle, ending the standoff. While the motive behind her bold action remains unclear, the video that was posted by @mahlodimoremi on 11 September 2025 on TikTok quickly found its way onto social media platforms, where it was met with a flood of reactions and jokes.

South Africans immediately linked the incident to umjolo issues, with one saying the following in the comments section.

"Umjolo is a humiliation ritual, yoh."

Memes and captions flooded timelines, with users suggesting that love troubles were likely behind the woman’s daring move, and her antics amused the online community.

Despite the humour, others cautioned against such behaviour, noting the danger of standing in front of a moving vehicle. Still, the lighthearted online commentary overshadowed the seriousness of the act, with many focusing instead on the comedic side.
