In the first incident, at around 5:40 am, two armed men opened fire at the Vuyani Taxi Rank on the corner of Japhtha K Masemola Drive and Spine Road, Khayelitsha.
The shooting resulted in the death of a taxi driver, while two others were injured. Khayelitsha SAPS has since opened one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

CATA and CODETA begin urgent negotiations
The Philippi and Khayelitsha shootings sparked urgent talks between the two taxi associations, as they aimed to bring an end to the violence.
CATA spokesperson, Nkululeko Sityebi, at that stage, called for both teams to return to the negotiation table. He also confirmed that one of the association's members was killed in the shooting in Philippi.
"We don't know where the shooting is coming from, but it looks like there were ongoing negotiations between these two regions, CATA and CODETA, in connection with the route from Somerset to Mfuleni, where an agreement was put in place.
"Unfortunately, the other party decided not to follow the agreement that was reached in July," he said.
He added that the main concern was the safety of passengers, who were caught in the middle.
