GAUTENG— A 14-year-old girl’s home delivery in July 2022 led directly to a life sentence for her 41-year-old father, after medical personnel uncovered the crime and forensic analysis confirmed he fathered her child. The Hartswater Regional Court in the Northern Cape found the accused guilty of rape and sexual assault.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane stated that the offense occurred in October 2021 when the man invited his children to his residence for his birthday. After the younger children exited the bedroom, the father trapped his daughter, undressed her, and committed the assault while playing loud music to drown out her screams.
Man threatens daughter to silence
The perpetrator vowed to murder relatives on her mother’s side if she spoke, forcing the minor into silence for months. Her ordeal surfaced only when she went into labor at home, aided by an 18-year-old cousin. Hospital staff subsequently questioned the minor regarding the paternity, prompting her to report her biological father to the police.

In court, the accused attempted to dismiss the case as a frame-up orchestrated by his wife's relatives over personal animosity. He failed, however, to account for genetic tests positively linking him to the infant.
The court rejected his claims, ruling that the prosecution established guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The offender's identity is protected by law to safeguard his daughter's privacy. Another man in the same province was sentenced to 20 years for raping his biological mother.

Limpopo man arrested for mother's murder
