The result marked Amakhosi’s second consecutive match without scoring, following their midweek draw with Chippa United. However, the point did push them up to fourth on the log. The last time they scored was in their 1–1 draw against Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup.
During the opening half, Flavio Silva thought he had put Kaizer Chiefs ahead, but the assistant referee flagged him offside. Later in the game, another moment of controversy saw the referee dismiss what the Glamour Boys believed was a clear penalty claim.
Ben Youssef fumes at controversial calls
Ben Youssef expressed clear frustration in his post-match interview on SuperSport TV, stating that Chiefs have been unlucky recently despite creating numerous chances.
The Tunisian tactician argued that they scored what he believed was a “great goal,” but it was disallowed, and complained that they never get awarded penalties, adding that in football, scoring usually leads to winning.
He emphasised that the team created “more than 12 or 13 opportunities” and had “26 shots on target,” yet still fell short, concluding that they simply need to keep working and that he dislikes repeating himself, but they have been unlucky.

Coach, I'm a Pirates supporter. The players don't like you, coach. 20 attempts on goals, 14 corner kicks, still your team is not scoring. Your defence is worse in PSL. Polokwane City's defence looks at statistics and data

"PSL will be normal when they hire a chairman who" is independent.... For now, let's enjoy this Mickey Mouse League that is run by the chairman of Pirates... I'm with Thidiela and Comitis, this league is rubbish."

"This coach substituted a striker with a striker instead of a defender with a striker to add numbers to the attack for converting your chances."
QTee Senekane added:
"Our players need proper coaching. Everyone is chasing personal glory instead of playing as a team. Long-range shots should only be attempted when necessary, but we keep losing possession because of unnecessary shots that never even come close to scoring. Mayo was clearly frustrated...he makes good runs, yet the pass always comes too late. Mduduzi Shabalala needs a rest at this point. Villa also needs to release the ball earlier and stop trying to play the hero."
