A primary issue on the table is whether Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef will be retained within the current coaching setup, with the latest reports claiming the club are not expected to renew their contracts.

Should that decision be finalised and made official at the end of the season, the next major issue that needs to be tackled by the Soweto giants becomes whether they will bring in a new head coach to spearhead the project going forward.

Two South African coaches have been linked with the Glamour Boys since Nasreddine Nabi was sacked in October 2025, and they could be the two managers who could be turned to.

Leading candidate for the job: Manqoba Mngqithi

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has been one of the South African coaches linked with taking over from Kaze and Ben Youssef at Kaizer Chiefs next season, as per trending reports.

Aside from replacing both coaches outright, there is also an option of the Lamontville Golden Arrows head coach coming in with the duo working alongside him as assistant managers.

Insider reports suggest the Soweto giants could integrate a senior head coach into the existing technical structure, with Mngqithi currently considered the preferred option.

A well-known Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates insider, Innocent Mkhize, noted on X that the duo is expected to stay, while the club looks to strengthen the technical bench with an experienced figure leading the team. He further indicated that Mngqithi is currently the leading candidate for that senior position.

Mngqithi’s strong Premier Soccer League track record and experience at top-level competition make him a convincing option for a club aiming to rebuild with consistency and direction.
