The South African celebrity was born at Cape Flats in Mitchells Plein where he spent much of his early years growing up. He is the younger son of Omar and Mardeah Adams, and a younger brother to Luqmaan. He spent much of his tender years playing songs and sounds of harmony alongside his music-loving father. Similarly, he learned much of the rhythms from his equally talented elder brother, Luqmaan Adams. It is through these close mentorship that earned him the role of a homeless street child in a popular theatre production District 6 at only the age of 9, a work written and produced by his mentors David Kramer and Taliep Pietersen.
It was through his acting debut that he began his successful performances in arts. During his teenage years, Emo spent much of his time rehearsing alongside Malay Choirs melodies for which he also took part in their annual performances. The trend would later spring to become his Malay cultural background. It was not long before music and melodies became an infectious part of his life.

This talented singer and actor enrolled at Spine Road High school in Mitchell’s Plein and later Boston House College following which he discovered his unwavering passion in performing arts.
Emo Adams early career
Emo courageously formed a 5-member boy band in 1996 among whom were three friends and his brother Luqmaan. The group gained statewide fame for its entertaining performances and perfect harmonies.
2000: Extensive travels to Germany for award-winning production Kat & the Kings playing the role of a young singing sensation.
2001: Cast in the production District 6: The Musical, playing the role of Sophia, a rather dynamic and glamorous drag queen.
2006: Performed the traditional style of an Indian song.
2007: Performed alongside Mynie Grove alongside other famous Afrikaans artists in Outdshoorn during the annual KKNK Fees. He also auditioned a young school of kids at a rural town, Clanwilliam. It is during this year that he released “Tall, Dark & Afrikaans” marking his first CD. D'Six Records produced this hitmaker album.
2008: Appeared on Malan en Kie, SABC’s mini-series taking the role of Solly.
