A Cape Town resident managed to capture a rare astronomical moment right from her front yard. Lize Mostert photographed a lunar eclipse from her home in Bellville at 6 am on 28 August 2026, sharing the image in a Facebook group.

The photo, taken in the early morning hours, showed the eclipse in clear detail against the Cape Town sky. Mostert described the moment as one of delight, writing in her caption that she had snapped the image just as the eclipse was visible above her house.
