A total of 41 people were affected in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus earlier today, 15 November 2025, about 5 km from Mandela View on the Bloemfontein and Botshabelo route.

41 people affected by N8 crash
It is reported that a head-on collision occurred between a truck and a bus. According to a crime expert, Yusuf Abramjee, ten people were killed and six others critically injured in the crash. Seven passengers with moderate injuries were transported to Botshabelo Hospital and Busamed.
24 Others sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for further treatment. The crash triggered a full emergency response, with paramedics, firefighters, and police attending the scene. Crash investigators have also been deployed to determine the cause. Traffic is still heavily affected, and drivers are urged to be cautious and follow officials’ instructions.

Bus company responds to crash
The Interstate Bus Lines company shared a media statement on social media confirming the crash. The company said that the accident happened at around 6:50. The chairperson of the bus company, George Mokgothu, stated that the company is deeply saddened by the tragic incident.
He said that they are working closely with the authorities to find out what caused the accident. Mokgothu said that his thoughts are with the affected individuals.

Other vehicle accidents in 2025
A horrific crash involving a taxi carrying school children has left 18 learners injured. The taxi, which was taking learners to schools on the first day of the new term, overturned on the N3 near Durban. The accident occurred before the Mariannhill Toll Plaza on Monday, 13 October 2025, before 7 am.
Multiple people have died following an accident on the N3, Pietermaritzburg bound. The fatalities occurred after a taxi collided with a vehicle and then veered off the road. The incident happened before 17:30 near the Shongweni off-ramp.

Briefly News previously reported that a pregnant woman on her way to the hospital in Kroonstad in an ambulance suffered multiple injuries when the car overturned.
The driver of the ambulance reportedly lost control of the car while travelling from Steynrus to Kroon Hospital.
