PRETORIA, GAUTENG — The Pretoria High Court ordered on 10 December 2025 that Menlyn Maine Towers evict tenderpreneur Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala's business, Medicare24 Tshwane District, for not paying rent.
According to TimesLIVE, the company was dragged to court after it failed to pay over R250,000 in rental charges after it stopped paying rent in June 2024. The court also ruled that Menlyn Maine Towers is entitled to Medicare24's movable property and payment of R258,890. He had not vacated the premises by November this year. Menlyn Maine Towers said in their court papers that they cancelled the lease agreement with the company in July after Matlala was arrested on 14 May 2025.

Why Cat Matlala is behind bars
Matlala was charged with the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend and actress Tebogo Thobejane in 2023. She survived the attack, which took place in Sandton, Johannesburg. The tycoon and tenderpreneur was denied on numerous occasions. However, his wife was granted R20,000 bail. The court has stated that Matlala was a flight risk and could interfere with the case.

Cat Matlala before the Ad Hoc Committee
Matlala appeared before the Ad Hoc Committee, which was established to investigate alleged corruption in the criminal justice system. His appearance came after numerous witnesses testified about his alleged involvement with suspended Deputy National Commissioner General Shadrack Sibiya and politicians like former Police Minister Bheki Cele and suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

- Matlala also said that the Hawks' KwaZulu-Natal head, General Lesetja Senona, was like a big brother to him
Eswatini official arrested for alleged corruption
In a related article, Briefly News reported that the Eswatini Police arrested an employee of the Eswatini Home Affairs. She was accused of allegedly providing Matlala a fake ID and birth certificate.
The official, Nonhlanhla Phumla Malambe, appeared before the Mbabane Magistrates Court on27 November 2025. She was also suspended from work.
