The legendary news anchor was born on May 5th, 1959. He is an American by nationality and of white ethnicity. The journalist is a native of both New York and New Jersey. As of January 2021, Brian Douglas is 61 years old. He turns 62 on May 5.

The talented US journalist was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He has three siblings and is the youngest of them all. William grew up in a Catholic family setting of mostly Irish descent. His parents are Dorothy Mat and Gordon Lewis. His mother was an amateur stage actress while his father worked as an executive vice president of the National Retail Merchants Association. The journalist spent his early years in Elmira, New York. His family later relocated to Middletown, New Jersey.

Before working for the National Association of Broadcasters, he started as an intern at the White House. His career began in 1981 at KOAM-TV in Kansas City. Later on, he worked as a general assignment reporter at WTTG-TV in Washington, DC. He later proceeded to WCAU in Philadelphia and WCBS in New York City.

The US-based journalist had a career break in 1993 when he joined NBC News as an anchor on the national program, Weekend Nightly News. After a short while, he was promoted to chief White House correspondent. In the summer of 1996, he landed his own show The News with Brian Williams, on which he served as both managing editor and anchor.

At the same time, he was the main substitute anchor and weekend anchor for The NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. He also made regular appearances on The Daily Show with John Stewart. From 2014 to 2015, he replaced Tom Brokaw as the anchor on NBC Nightly News and hosted Rock Center from 2011 to 2013.
