MacG has found himself at the centre of another social media storm after an old photo sparked an unexpected connection to one of Mzansi’s most talked-about figures.
The Podcast and Chill with MacG host spoke about the photo during the episode that premiered on YouTube on Monday, 31 August 2026, saying that socialite Eva Modika had identified the mystery woman standing next to him in the throwback picture as Tsakane Matlala, the wife of alleged Big Five Criminal Cartel member and murder accused Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
And MacG? He had absolutely no memory of the moment.

The unexpected revelation came after Eva Modika sent MacG a message about the photograph. The host admitted that he could not remember the woman, the night or even the location where the picture was taken.

“So, this is the crazy part, right? I don't remember this night, and I don't remember this girl. I had no idea. So, it's been going viral and whatever, and then Eva Modika sends me a message. She goes, ‘Is that you and Tsakane?’ I'm like, ‘I don't remember her. Like, I don't even remember this night. I don't know what was happening, man.’ But you can see like, you know, the boy was cooking,” he said, prompting laughter in the studio.
His co-host Sol Phenduka naturally wanted answers, but MacG had very little to offer.
The conversation also touched on Tsakane’s dramatically different appearance in the old photograph. MacG explained that Eva had identified the woman as Cat Matlala’s wife before her alleged cosmetic transformation.
“So, you know, you know what she says? She says this is Cat Matlala's wife before the bleach and the new teeth,” MacG said.
Sol Phenduka then asked the question everyone was thinking.
“But do you now remember what happened between you and this girl?” he asked.
MacG remained adamant that the night had completely escaped his memory.
“I don't remember that night, dawg. I don't remember. I don't know where we were,” he said.
Sol Phenduka offered a less dramatic possibility, suggesting the two may simply have taken a photograph before going their separate ways.
“It may have just been a picture, and then you left. You went your separate ways,” Sol suggested.
But even that theory did little to jog MacG’s memory.
“I don't remember. Okay. But that's Cat Matlala's wife, bro.”
Sol Phenduka backs Eva Modika’s claim
The conversation then turned to why MacG and Sol were taking Eva’s identification seriously. Sol pointed out that Modika moves within social circles where she could reasonably know Tsakane.
“I mean the source if it's Eva Modika. Yeah. She's in these north circles. So, she would know,” he said.
