Former ‘Gomora’ Actor Ntobeko Sishi Takes On the Lead Role in Netflix’s New Film ‘Love and Wine’

Talented actor and singer Ntobeko Sishi has done it again, bagging himself yet another lead this year in the upcoming and highly anticipated Netflix original film titled Love and Wine.
While buzzing with excitement about his new gig, during an exclusive sit-down with Briefly News journalist Mbali Tebele, the 27-year-old star shared that the character he is portraying in this romcom is totally different from all the roles he has played in the past, and that this was his first lead role in a romcom.
"So, Ovee is the son of a wealthy man, and he's trying to figure out his life, and in the mystery of that all one of those things he's trying to figure out is love, but I don't want to give it away on if he does or doesn't find it, but through love, he gets closer to himself," he noted.
Speaking about his character's background, Sishi shared that the challenge of doing a romcom drew him closer to his character. Trying something different from the drama series he's done also appealed to him.
"I've got to learn how to be playful and not too dramatic" is what Ntobeko also added to the list of challenging things that drew im to this film, and also Amanda Lane, the director of the film.
The former Gomora actor, who previously shared about his painful upbringing, will star on the show alongside the popular actress and radio host Thando Thabethe, who also announced her new gig on social media in October 2025.

Sishi reveals how much he loves layered characters
The young star further shared with the publication a lot more about himself and what he loves when auditioning for a character. He mentioned that his role is what he wanted to do, especially after discovering that his character has a lot of layers.
He noted:
"The character himself is amazing, and I love playing a layered character. At face value, they seem like this, but underneath, they are very different, and that is what fans will get to see regarding Ovee. I really enjoyed portraying this character also learned to be playful since it is a romcom, it was amazing."
What is Love and Wine?
Love and Wine is an upcoming romcom film on Netflix that will premiere on Friday, 5 December 2025. The Netflix PR team also shared with Briefly News more about the film and what it's all about.

Actress Zola Nombona also landed dream role on Netflix
Actor Ntobeko Sishi isn't the only star in Mzansi who is buzzing with excitement after bagging a lead role on the upcoming film, as the seasoned actress Zola Nombona also shared on social media that she landed her dream role in the Netflix series How To Ruin Love: The Lobola.
Nombona will be making her debut on Netflix this December 2025. Scrolling through the replies to Zola's post feels like a virtual braai of support, with Mzansi netizens roasting the industry for sleeping on her while showering her in praise.
Netflix launches first season of Bad Influencer
