If you are one of those people who are looking to join the Embury college, officially referred to as the Embury Institute for Higher Education, you will find everything here in order to advance your knowledge. Is Embury a registered college? Is Embury a private college? Yes, Embury is a fully registered and accredited private institution of higher learning with a focus on teacher education. The institution is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). If you are in doubt, you can confirm their registration number, which is 2008/HE07/004.

Embury college online application 2020

The Embury Institute of Higher Education has an online system that you can use for applications. The application steps are fairly easy and do not require any Embury login for myembury. Once you are accepted, you can use the Embury ECI to access additional student services. Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Visit the school's site, www.embury.ac.za, and then click on the apply button.
  2. The site gives you three options. The first alternative allows you to dive straight into the application knowing what you want, the second one offers you help in picking a course, and the third one prompts you to download the form so that you can submit it at a later time.
  3. For the online application option, pick a campus and click on the next page.
  4. Select the program you wish to study. Note that you need to have paid the application fee of R600 and have proof of it, or else the application will not be processed. Then, click on the next page.
  5. You will be presented with a section to fill out your personal details such as the name, address, and any previous academic qualifications you may have obtained in the past. If you are a foreign student or have a disability, you will fill it out in this section as well. After this, click on the next page.
  6. You will be redirected to the last step, and it is titled Client Declaration & Forms. Essentially, you consent to the terms and conditions as laid forth by Embury Institute. You will also need a certified copy of your ID card, proof of payment, a copy of Grade 11 results, a matric certificate, or any other applicable qualification.
  7. Once you are satisfied, click on the “I accept the terms and conditions” and the “I’m not a robot” checkboxes and hit submit. Remember that you must meet the Embury teaching college requirements as well.

Embury College courses

Once you have decided that Embury is the place where to study teaching, you can pick any of the following qualifications. Here are the qualifications and mode of delivery

  1. Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training - Contact and Distance Learning
  2. Higher Certificate in Pre-school Education - Contact and Distance Learning
  3. Diploma in Grade R Teaching - Contact and Distance Learning
  4. Advanced Diploma in Physical Education and School Sports - Contact learning
  5. Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching - Contact learning
  6. Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching - Contact and Distance Learning
  7. Bachelor of Education Honors in Inclusive Education - Contact and Distance Learning

Embury College fees and bursary

The college has flexible payment structures that allow for the payment of all fees or monthly installments. The fees vary depending on the qualification and the delivery mode of each course. Additionally, you can monitor their website for bursaries in case you need some financial assistance. Note that all campuses offer the following courses:

  1. Higher Certificate in Pre-School Education (NQF 5)
  2. Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching (NQF 7)
  3. Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching (NQF 7)

Additionally, all campuses have two payment options; the first one allows you to make payments by February 1st while the second alternative permits you to make payments over a period of time (paid from February to November). The fees are broken down as follows depending on the campus.

Durban Musgrave Campus

Midrand Waterfall campus

Payment option 1 (to be paid by February 1)

Payment option 2 (paid from February to November)

Pretoria Montana campus

The two payment options for this campus are exactly the same as those of the Midrand Waterfall Campus above. However, their residence fees are as follows in the order of description, amount, deposit, balance, and installment payments for the 2020 academic year.

  • Single student room per person - R75,000 - R7,500 - R67,500 - R6,750 - Ten
  • Shared room per person - R54,000 - R5,400 - R48,600 - R4,860 - Ten

Distance learning

This is offered in South Africa and Namibia. In Namibia, the programme offered is a Higher Certificate in Pre-School Education (NQF5). In South Africa, under this program, Embury College offers the following qualifications for undergraduates:

  • Higher Certificate in Pre-School Education (NQF 5) - 8 modules
  • Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching (NQF 7) - 9 modules
  • Diploma in Grade R Teaching (NQF 6) - 9 modules
