On 13th September 2020, the Idols SA judges, Randall, Somizi, and Unathi, made what would be dubbed as the final judgement. The ruling that they made narrowed down the number of contestants from 31 to 16. Among those that could not proceed to the next stage of the competition is Matevhu, DJ Zinhle's favourite. The remaining 16 will battle for the final prize of the competition.

Brandon is another creative artist in the list of top 16 Idols SA 2020 contestants. He hails from Barberton and looks up to Sha Sha because of her voice. He auditioned in Durban.
Brandon's motto is, It takes a lot of courage to get to the top, but without character, you won't last.
Dee is a multi-talented Idols SA contestant who can draw, sing, and dance. She hails from Nyanga and looks up to Miriam Makeba and Busi Mhlongo because of their perception of being musically creative. Dee auditioned in Cape Town.

Jooma is a creative song-writer who traces his roots back in Nelson Mandela Bay. He looks up to the likes of Afrotraction, Azana, Nasty C, and Shekhinah. Jooma auditioned in Pretoria.
Jooma's taglines are, Never feel entitled to win – always keep the hunger and the universe is always listening, your dreams are valid.
Melanin is another queen who hails from Newcastle and boasts of the innocence in her voice. She dreams of working with Black Coffee because of how well he blends with every artist that he works with. Melanin auditioned in Durban.
Melanin's motto is If God placed it for me, nobody can take it away from me.
9. Mr Music
Mr Music is another artistic contestant among the top 16 Idols SA contestants. He is passionate about painting. His role model is Thami Shobede, and he auditioned in Durban. Mr Music's tagline is, Every day is a second chance.
Ndoni is another talented contestant who was born in Newlands West. She looks up to Black Motion because of the impact that his music has on her life. She auditioned in Durban.
Ndoni's motto is, It always seems impossible until it's done. You can do it.

Ntokozo is a confident lady who feels that she expresses herself best through the clothes she wears. She was born in Kagiso, and her celebrity icon is Black Coffee, and she thinks that by working with him, she will learn a lot from him. Ntokozo auditioned in Pretoria.

Qhawe is a confident contestant who believes in the art of continuity in art. He admires how Pharell Williams channels energy into a song and how much of a sonic mastermind Labrinth is. Locally, he admires Tellaman's work. He auditioned in Johannesburg.

Succedor is another competitor in the show, and he hails from Waterval-Boven. He takes pride in his personality, stage presence, and style, and his icons are Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Cassper Nyovest, and Sun-El Musician. Succedor auditioned online in Durban.

Zahn-Reece traces his roots back in Vanderbijlpark, and he takes pride in his ability to understand and interpret music. He looks up to Maurice White because of how incredible his project with Earth, Wind & Fire was. Zahn-Reece auditioned in Pretoria.

Zama's hometown is Witbank, Emalahleni, and her celebrity icon is Rachelle Farrell. Zama auditioned in Johannesburg. Zama's motto is, Do unto others as you'd like done to you.
16. Zano Thando
Zano Thando has an artistic personality, and he boasts of his ability in establishing a relationship with any audience quickly. He looks up to and would love to work with Vigro Deep because of his unapologetic voice. Zano Thando auditioned online in Durban.
Zano Thando's motto is, Umfan' o gcwel' incasa taste baby."
Will there be Idols SA 2020? Yes, the competition started airing on 2nd August 2020. The auditions were filmed way before the lockdown. The auditions were held in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, and Durban.
